Introduction to the Digimon Pendulum

The Digital Monster Pendulum is the second in the series of the Digimon Virtual Pet line. It has a roster of 20 Digimon and additional functions such as the Pendulum training and Jogressing. It evolves through 6 stages after hatching from the egg, beginning with the Baby Stage and ending in the Ultimate Stage.

Once activated it will prompt you for a time to put on the clock. Input the times using the buttons and your egg will hatch shortly. You will see a total of 8 Icons on the border, some different than the V-Pet.

  1. Scale: To view the Digimon status you will see numerous screens, which will include the Age/Weight, the Hunger Status, the Strength Status, the Win Ratio screen, and lastly the Digimon Points (DP) Gauge. 1 Digimon Year = 24 hours. Weight variations will take place in the following way where G = Gigabytes.
    *Food +1G
    *Protein +2G
    *Training -2G
    *Battle -4G
Once addition to the Pendulum Series is the Jogres function. You will see a B-J- in once of the menu screens. The '-'s will be substituted with a O or a X depending on your Digimon. The 'B' refers to 'Battle' and the 'J' refers to 'Jogres'. The 'X' means that Battle of Jogres is not possible and the 'O' means that the function can be carried out.
  2. Meat: Two options, the top selection is a piece of meat which will increase the Digimon's hunger. The second selection is the Protein Pill, which will increase your Digimon's Strength. Avoid the Protein, as it will shorten your Digimon's life span as well as a 5% chance of getting sick.
  3. Training: This is where your Digimon will train, a successful training session will increase your Digimon's strength naturally. Training will decrease your DP level, which you need to train. The Pendulum series offers a new Training method where you must shake the Pendulum and a counter will determine the strength of your shots. You will release a series of 5 shots, you will either shoot a single blast or a Super hit (double shot). You will get points for every successful Super Hit and a failed training session if you get no Super Hits.
  4. Connection: For the Pendulums there are now two functions for this selection.
    • Battle: This will allow you to fight another V-Pet to increase your Win Ratio, the more battles and higher your Win Ratio the more likely it will be you will reach the Perfect Stage. Baby Digimon cannot battle, and for the other Digimon DP is necessary. You will fight your opponent and shoot up to three shots against your opponent. Best two out of three will win.
    • Jogres: If you have two compatible Digimon, you may Jogres allowing one or both of them to evolve to the next level. An Error sign will appear on the screen if there is an incompatibility. You require full DP to use the Jogres function.
  5. Toilet: This will wipe the screen clear when your Digimon poops approximately every three hours. Your Digimon will become sick if it poops 8 times without cleaning. You have 20 minutes to clean the screen after every poop before it counts as a 'care mistake'.
  6. Lights: Select this function to turn the lights off when your is ready to sleep. You must do this within 30 minutes (or before the 'Call' light goes out) or it will count as a care mistake and your Digimon will wake up one hour later. A full 8 hours sleep is necessary to refill the DP Gauge.
  7. Bandage: This is where you provide Medical attention for your Digimon. If he becomes Sick (the 'c') above its head use the top selection and if he is Dying (the skull) use the bottom selection. Sometimes your Digimon will refuse the treatment so try a few times. If your Digimon gets the sickness/dying status too many times or is left untreated it may die. Your Digimon can still get injured even if it wins.
  8. The "Call" icon: When its lit up you have 20 minutes or less to respond before it goes out you get a care mistake. Your Digimon will only do this when its hearts run out or it gets sick/dying. It will also do this when its time to turn out the lights.

Sound Option: To disable the sounds press the A and C buttons at the same time.

Pause Option: While the V-Pets and Pendulums have no pause feature you can simulate one by bringing up the clock and hitting A and C to 'change the clock' then leave it on with the time blinking. This will keep your Digimon suspended while you tend to other things.
